Working with the City of SeaTac and Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, TCA provided site selection, programming and design services for the new 7,500 SF station which embraces the City’s sustainable goals and incorporates elements from the City’s past Arts & Crafts style buildings. The site includes a working “food forest” that supplies seasonal fruit to the firefighters and neighbors, and a sustainable water retention and landscaping system including rain gardens, a wet/dry pond and re-located boulders from another City location. The facility’s interior living and working environment has low maintenance polished concrete floors, an efficient layout to reduce the overall size of the facility and improve turn-out times, enhanced envelope and environmental systems to reduce energy usage and a source capture vehicle exhaust system to improve working conditions for the emergency responders
